Branch Report - July 2026
Various members attended events such as Mallory Park 1000 bikes Revival, a TOMCC meet near Melton Mowbray, and the big one: Founder's Day which is an annual event held at Stanford Hall, Northamptonshire. We had our usual stand there courtesy of my good self towing the club's trailer there. Our area was well populated with bikes from most eras. George even got to ride around the parade ring on his 1930 WS machine with a big grin on his face!
John Nelson accompanied me to paint preservative onto our recently installed lock up doors when collecting the trailer. We then applied another coat when we returned it. It's a fetching shade of red cedar to almost match the doors on the other lock ups.
Jack's Hill café on the A5 near Towcester is our area's equivalent to London's Ace Café. Events were regularly held there until it closed a few years ago. It has now reopened with only minor internal improvements. We had our second informal meet there at the end of July for the revived 'Ton up Day' a reference to the days when bikers challenged each other to do 'the ton' i.e. 100 mph down the A5! The car parks were overflowing with bikes both modern and of the 50's and 60's period. Some riders dressed the part although were somewhat more mature these days.
We welcome 5 new members this month (although more have not renewed): Belint Tsela, Lisa Morris, Alfred Round, Martin Sleigh, and Philip Albutt.
