Meriden Branch Report June 2014

May and June have been busy months and thankfully the weather seems to have helped bring many more Branch members out and also we have had a good number of new recruits.

26Th May “ Wings and Wheels” Bidford on Avon. About 20 bikes made the ride to this charity event (Acorns Hospice).Full of classic cars, bikes and stunt planes putting on a display for us made it a great day out.

8th June Banbury Run heritage centre. Branch stand with about 15 bikes made this a good day out. Approx 600 old pre 30’s classic bikes did the classic Banbury run.  Great to see these bikes of a “bye gone era” heading out on the road.

14th June Daventry Bike festival About 15 bikes made this run all triumphs both modern and classic. Another sunny day with hundreds of bikes on display along with a lot of stalls selling all things bike related. A fantastic day out. Well worth repeating next year.

22nd June   Meriden Mega Ride About 200 bikes met at the arrow Mill near Alcester and rode to the Queens Head pub in Meriden where there was a field set aside for many stalls. There was a great band playing to keep us entertained. We had the Branch stand there and as this event has been arranged for many years by Neville Riley from our Branch(pictured below).  It was great to see it being so successful with money raised by the Rotary Club for the Macmillan Nurses and the Marie Cure Hospice. Thank you so much Neville for the years of hardwork .

It was also good to see the arrival of Ian and Shirley on their Bonnie with their new trailer in tow! They had arrived directly from the B’ham and Wolves Thunderbird Rally.
