Meriden Branch Report May 2013

Five of our members (Bob Johnson, Gerry Boland, Bill Howells, Bob Wisdom and Dave Parry) had a very pleasant week-end at the ‘Llandudno Classic Transport Festival. Bob advised :-

The showground was packed with all manner of classic transport along with the usual trade stalls. You could spend two days looking at all of the machinery on display.

Llandudno town centre was closed and the streets filled with a funfair. Along the promenade and on the beach there was entertainment for everyone.

We had a ride around the ‘Great Orme’ on a 1973 Midland Red bus as part of the cavalcade of transport that takes place every day while the festival is on. What a fantastic experience that was. The only thing that spoilt the ride was Gerry Boland insisting he sang ‘We’re all going on a Summer Holiday’ over and over again.  He said it was his favourite song.

A trip up the ‘Great Orme’ on the cable-car to the summit was a great experience. Splendid views of north Wales and Anglesey from the top.

On the day we were returning home we rode or bikes around the ‘Great Orme’ for one last look at the magnificent views.

On the 11th May 6 bikes went to the Daventry motor festival led by Keith Snell who advised the town centre was blocked off and there were many classics both cars and bikes. A wonderfull day.

On 26th and 27th May we had the club stand taken by Martin Wake at the Husbands Bosworth first “wheels Within Wheels Show”. Martin and some brave hearted club members camped over night. The highlight of the day was the ride in from the Leicester branch to show support about 15 riders came in and it was interesting and fun to meet up with them. Thank you for your support Leicester.
