Meriden Branch Report October 2014

On 21st September Seventeen Triumphs, led by Simon made the run to the British and Classic Charity Bike Day at the Hare and Hounds Pub, Wardington. Only 16 arrived though, Chris had his clutch cable snap, good job he had his mobile and breakdown card with him!

The event was organised by Simon and Denise in aid of the local Katherine House Hospice and at the pub after a great ride on this beautiful Autumn day we were greeted by lots of other bikers, and even a few of them pesky Mods (nice one).

Denise was busy selling raffle tickets for prizes donated by friends and the Landlord, a table with more gifts for auction helped boost  funds. Over £400 was raised on the day for the Hospice.

Thanks to Simon and Denise, their friends and the Landlord and staff at the Hare and Hounds for organising this great day out. Perhaps this could become a regular event on our Branch Calendar?

Sunday the 19th October  ride out from the club to Draycott in the Clay  to the Klondyke Steam Fair, ten riders set out for the run , all went very well until entering the village only to find a long queue, of vehicles   all stationary  and no traffic coming in the opposite direction.  We did attempt to ease forward past the vehicles in front when we found that there had been an accident and that the road was closed by the gate to the show ground ,  so we finally managed to get into the grounds,  Dave Parry joined us at that point making eleven bikes present , actually because of the original problems on getting into the grounds instead of using the usual area we were all split up so it was impossible to have any group photo’s taken as a record of the day.  But once inside and sorted it was a good day . with all sorts of vintage and classic vehicle on show,   even a London Red bus, we had to tell  Beryl that it was not on normal service, and that it would not take her back to her old home. The weather was even kind to us with on the odd spot of rain .
