Meriden Branch Report February 2020

Since my last report the only club event has been the branch A.G.M. This was attended by the usual 30 odd members plus 8 committee members. We were all re elected unopposed. There was a request for members to suggest and co ordinate runs or attendance at new events. So please let us know and join in.

One of our leading members, Martin Wake, is as I write, recovering from a bleed on the brain. We all wish him well for a full recovery.

Our first official run of the year is on Sunday 22 March. This is our run to champion motorcycle racer Mike Hailwood’s home village of Tanworth- in  Arden. The route Keith leads us on includes some little picturesque lanes. Mike’s grave is in the local churchyard with a great view over the countryside.  The run marks the anniversary of his untimely death in a local road accident. Also, a few days after our run would have been his 80th birthday. The village pub will be open for refreshments.

The following Sunday (29th) is our popular auto jumble held on the car park of our headquarters at the Heart of England Social Club, Berkswell Road, Meriden.

Due to Martins incapacity we are not doing the Easter Egg Run this year.

As ever some of us also meet up informally at Wellesbourne Touch down cafe CV35 9EU on Tuesday mornings and Hoar Park CV10 0QU on Wednesday mornings.

We welcome new members Ian Barton, Jim Bowyer, Scott Shingler and Steve Owen.

Barry.
