Meriden Branch Report December 2013

As the nights are now drawing in not a lot to be reported, apart from many of the members are at home with their “winter projects” working away by candle light in their garages or sheds!!So not a lots happening!

Therefore I am entering a report on a trip earlier this year that didn’t make the nacelle contributed by Bill Howells:

On 20th June, Bob Wisdom, Gerry Boland, Dave Parry & Bill Howells took a trip up to Gods own country of Yorkshire to the Yorkshire Rose Concours where we were made very welcome and had a very interesting evening with lots of ancient & modern bikes of all makes on show. Good food and music on top of the 23c sunshine [is that Summer now all used up]. On the way up we visited Arkrights Mill & Eyam. Thursday saw some drizzle for part of our journey home but we still managed to visit Sids Cafe {last of summer wine] in Holmfirth & then on to Holm Moss/Derwent Water & then Cat And Fiddle [2nd highest Inn in England] for lunch. Lots of roads were very narrow ,twisty & up and down, fantastic riding but very tiring .Arrived home exhausted but very contented .Bill Howells

In September of this year yours truly, with Bob Howells, Dave Parry, Gerry Boland and Bob wisdom rode route 66 across the states riding a total of 2,200 miles. Mostly in very hot sunshine but one storm (The storm of the century!!) was encountered. Hitting 2 feet of water raging across the road! Luckily we all made it through the flash flood but one poor sole from the group came off and my unfortunate my Harley Road king didn’t go again! Picture below of the merry gang! (shame  they were not triumphs!)

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and wishing you a happy and prosperous 2014

Note : AGM to be held at the Heart of England Club  24th February.
