Meriden Branch Report August 2013

August was a very good month with a lot of meetings and ride outs for the Meriden branch.

9th-11th August. We held our own “Bring it Home Rally” held at the Barkers’ Butts Rugby Club, Meriden. We had a fantastic weekend weather wise and approximately 60 bikes and 70 brave souls braving the elements tenting. A very good turn out and great live bands on the Friday and Saturday nights with members and friends coming from many regions to enjoy the weekend. About 80 people attended in the evenings.

A great ride out was arranged and led by Keith Snell with approx 35 miles of country lanes to Bidford Gliding Club where Keith had even arranged for a local stunt pilot to entertain us! Also our own “microlight fly-in” by Clive! Everyone said it was a great route and they thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Well Done Keith!

Many people helped towards the success of the rally but particular recognition should go to Martin, Ian, Shirley, John Nelson, Kazzie, Keith, Dennis and Debbie for their enthusiasm, time and hard work. I’m sure I’ve missed some people out, as it really was a joint effort over the weekend. A fantastic effort by everyone made the event a success and raised a substantial sum for charity.

On the Sunday, some of the riders from the rally were joined by other branch members (approx 30 bikes) when we met on the A46 and attended the “Mods and Rockers” day at the classic meet in Warwick Market Square followed by a ride out to the National Motorcycle Museum.

On the 24th and 25th we had a club stand at the Coventry Festival of Motoring at Stoneleigh Park with approx 12 bikes on display each day. We were advised that there were about 22,000 visitors to the show and there was considerable interest shown by people wanting to join the TOMCC.

Upcoming events. On the 14th/15th September is the Cleobury Mortimer show and the Toddington Classic Vehicle Day. Further details will be advised nearer the time.

There has also been a lot of interest shown in the Bristol Branch Concorde Rally on the 27th to 29th September where a number of Meriden members will be attending.
